Te Mete is excited to announce that he will be displaying Original Artworks and Limited Edition Prints at S&M Cocktail Bar and Gallery in Wellington NZ on the 15th of June 2013. He will be displaying new pieces of work, including one special original print of Louisa Wall (NZ Marriage Equality Bill Founder).
Te Mete made international history after painting Louisa Wall, and it was announced that the original image of the portrait Te Mete painted will go on the Front Cover of the Equality Bill which passed in NZ on the 17th of April 2013 - This debate made global history. The portrait is set to be featured in a publication called "World Investment NZ" - and 10 prints have been air-marked to go to 10 high profile charity auctions over the next 2 years.
The original portrait sold on Auction during his Solo Art Exhibition at Tongariro Chateau (Mt Ruapehu) during the Pink Ball on the 18th of May 2013 in which Te Mete gave proceeds to the New Zealand Aids Foundation.
Te Mete’s use of his inherited Maori identity, legends, cultural experiences, religion, sexuality, beauty, depict an individualistic style that are helping to evolve today’s culture through their own art forms or roles in society. His, anecdotal creations of beauty observed from what he describes as egos are inspired by deep involvement through years of work understanding himself though the eye of the gaze, voyaging history, people and the spirit of difference, but in tern creating difference as the new norm in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and the rest of the World.
Proceeds of each sale during the exhibit will be donated to Wellingtons Awhina Trust.
